Player Evaluation
Every year in late May and early June, soccer clubs conduct their annual tryouts to place players on a team based on their abilities. Those tryouts take hundreds of man hours to look at hundreds, possibly thousands of players in a short period of time. While majority of the players receive a phone call and are placed appropriately, many fall through the cracks, some cannot attend these tryouts, and many are too nervous to show their true ability.
When we look at the athletes, we measure their technical and tactical abilities along with their physical and psychological attributes. A tryout period does not allow us to fully rate players accurately. For these reasons, players will be observed throughout the entire year by their team Head Coach and Director of Coaching at training sessions and games. They will then be consequently placed more accurately within the Rush system. Evaluations will be based on the previously mentioned components in addition to attendance, attitude, team chemistry, and consistency, to name a few.
Tryout Information
The Head Coach will select his/her team with the assistance of the Directors of Coaching of the Rush. Tryouts for all U11 players and players outside the club will take place during certain times of the year. Due to the evaluation process, tryouts are not required for currently registered U12 and older Competitive Rush players during tryout week. However, if a current Rush Competitive player wishes to move to another team that is more competitive, if if available in the same group age, they are encouraged to attend tryouts, as it is the final step in the evaluation process. For now, we don't host tryout dates, instead we have an open tryout system where players can come to tryout for our teams throughout the season by contacting the club.
Who should attend tryouts?
- New players to Colorado Rush
- All U11 players
- Current U12 and older Rush players looking to move teams

Player Movement
Like an European system, we allow players to guest play with different team in the club if they are able. Players and coaches don't exclusively belong to any particular team instead they are part of the club, and we will get opportunity to develop based on their playing ability and maturity if any opportunity arrive. We see all our players as part of the club and view ourselves as one big family, so we do things very different here while still trying to provide the same objective as any top club in the country: Help players go to the next level ( College or Professional) while enjoying their sport and growing as a complete and responsible young adult. Here at So Cal Rush you don't just have your team and coach! You have a lot team and coaches plus one big Rush Nation that gives you opportunity to be part of other out the state teams as well. Simply an unique experience to experiment!
Head Coaches must communicate to their respective DOC or TD to approve any player movement within the club. This process will always be done with the player in mind first and what is best for their development.
